Once Upon a Time There Were Three Little Squash

It’s not often I say things like this, so here it goes – Butternut Squash is awesome.

I say this with the highest collective level of respect, somberness, and appreciation. This morning I received my fruit and veggie box. It’s always exciting to find this darling little box of produce on my front porch at 5:30 a.m. each Wednesday. There was one small problem. When I left for work today I had 3 Butternut Squash sitting on my counter. It was like a disturbing page out of the 3 Little Bears. Papa Squash, Mama Squash, and Baby Squash. Each one was over 3 lbs. Notice how I used the past tense?

Extra, Extra! Read All About It…

“Mama Squash Runs Away With Handsome Eggplant!” – not really.

“Papa Squash Gets Locked Away for Attempted Gardening!” – not true.

“Baby Squash Flunks Out of School! Gets Sent to Military Academy!” – it’s a lie.

All I can honestly say is that the truth behind the 3 Little Squash is too grizzly to describe in detail, but the soup was delicious!

Stay Tuned for January’s Book Recipe coming out at the end of the month. The Conspirators; or, The Chevalier D’Harmental, by Alexandre Dumas.

Happy Reading and Happy Eating,
